The Royal College of Music Museum contains the earliest known guitar, the earliest stringed keyboard instrument and the most recognised portraits of Joseph Haydn and Farinelli. Learn about these and 56 other fascinating instruments specially chosen from the RCM’s designated collection of over 14,000 items.

Hidden Treasures

Discover unique treasures from the RCM Museum and Library collections. Featuring long unseen artworks, historic manuscripts, and unusual and ingenious musical instruments, this exhibition shares rarely seen objects and stories hand-picked from the thousands of objects and stories from the RCM's internationally outstanding collections. Following a £3.6 million investment from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Royal College of Music Museum has undergone a complete redevelopment. Our Museum is accessible to visitors with limited mobility. You can read more about access in the RCM Museum here
*Please note: you are welcome to visit at any time during our opening hours even though there is a notional start time as part of the booking process. Turangalîla at the Royal Festival Hall
The Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, led by acclaimed conductor Jac van Steen, perform Messiaen’s epic masterpiece Turangalîla-symphonie at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 1 May, 7.30pm.
Join us for this special event, featuring RCM pianist Thomas Kelly as soloist and Imsu Choi on the ondes Martenot.
