The RCM is seeking to engage a Head of Projects, Facilities & Operations, to join the diverse Estates & Facilities team at the College. The post-holder will report to the Director of Estates and will work with and advise the Director of Estates on the development, implementation and management of the College’s Estates and FM functions, policies and procedures.

The Head of Projects, Facilities & Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of the Colleges’ Buildings operations, consisting of the Prince Consort Road Campus, and RCM Jay Mews working with the Estates Management team, to achieve this. They will manage procurement, delivery, mobilisation and operational readiness of all new building projects and facilities operations.

The role-holder will also take a leading role in constantly seeking to improve the Building Operations to enhance the user experience in collaboration with other estates management colleagues, by identifying improvements in service delivery, enhancements to customer experience and continuous improvement of the Facilities Operations.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in project management including successful delivery of construction projects
  • Clear knowledge and proven background in facilities management, ideally in an HEI environment
  • Ability to deputise for the Director of Estates, at senior meetings and presenting reports and presentations
  • Background in visitor engagement providing costumer service such as box office, front of house services
  • Experience in security provision for daily operations and VIP events, including liaison with the Metropolitan Police
  • A positive and proactive attitude, and quick to respond to requests, including from Senior Management
  • The ability to lead a busy, hardworking team who provide on-site duty management, 7 days per week
  • The ability to take responsibility for key, strategic decisions and where necessary, take emergency action
  • The confidence to problem-solve and streamline operational activity, working with fellow heads of departments.
