Robert Hill

Robert Hill was born in Enfield, Middlesex and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. On leaving the Academy he became a founder member of the London Sinfonietta. In 1968 he became co-principal and Eb clarinet with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and in 1972 left to become principal of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, a position which he held until 2016. He manages to freelance in London and is a member of the Michael Thompson Wind Quintet (formerly the Barry Tuckwell Wind Quintet).
