RCM Festival of Percussion

Experience a spectacular celebration of percussion at the Royal College of Music's annual Festival of Percussion! From marimbas to xylophones, timpani to tambourines, our festival features something for all to enjoy.

This year’s festival was on Sunday 7 May 2023, and we presented a wide variety of events and activities, welcoming internationally renowned virtuoso drummer Jojo Mayer and visitors from the percussion and timpani sections of the BBC Concert Orchestra. There was also a family concert, lessons and talks, an all-day trade fair, a performance simulator and much more!

For the grand finale, Pete Long – musical director of acclaimed Ronnie Scott’s Big Band – presented a special Jazz Orchestra concert in the evening through a stunning selection of pieces by the legendary jazz drummer and songwriter, Buddy Rich.

The Percussion Faculty at the RCM is a thriving, vibrant community. Percussion students enjoy the benefits of a purpose-built percussion suite, with state-of-the-art technology and practice facilities for teaching world percussion alongside the orchestral repertoire. Many former students are now in the UK’s leading orchestras, with training enabling you to enter the profession equipped with the musical tools of the trade.

We do not have anything to show at the moment. Check back regularly for the latest news about our events, or you can subscribe to our mailing list.
