Danny Driver
MA (Cantab), PGDip (RCM)
Danny Driver is recognised internationally as a pianist and teacher of sophistication, insight, and musical depth. His studies at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music inspired his holistic approach to performance, from which he derives a uniquely vibrant brand of programming that he brings to concert halls and music festivals across Europe, Asia, and North America. His breadth of repertoire is reflected in highly acclaimed recordings on the Hyperion label exploring music from the baroque period to the present day; recent releases include Piano Concertos by Amy Beach, Dorothy Howell and Cecile Chaminade, and György Ligeti’s complete Études for Piano.
Driver has performed with orchestras around the world including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Minnesota Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Hong Kong Pro Arte, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and Uppsala Chamber Orchestra. His ongoing collaboration with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been heard across the UK, at London’s Cadogan and Royal Albert Hall, and at the BBC Proms.
He performs frequently in solo and chamber recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall, and has also appeared at esteemed series including the Southbank Centre International Piano Series, Music Toronto, Montreal’s Salle Bourgie, and the Bard Music Festival (USA). Driver’s passion for chamber music is reflected in long-standing musical partnerships with violinist Chloë Hanslip (including a complete Beethoven Sonata cycle), baritone Christian Immler, and cellist-composer Oliver Coates, as well as in collaborations with violinist Jack Liebeck and the Parker, JACK and Carducci String Quartets.
