Alberto Martín Entrialgo studied Music Theory at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he obtained a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. He has also a PhD on Music Analysis from the University of Southampton, funded by the AHRC through the SWWDTP. His thesis explores the role of certain eighteenth-century compositional formulas in the work of the nineteenth-century Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz. In 2020, he gained a UKRI/MITACS Globalink grant to undertake a research placement at McGill University. His work on theory and analysis has been presented in the UK, USA, The Netherlands, and Spain, and at the annual conferences of the Society for Music Analysis, Society for Music Theory, or the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory among others, and his compositions, including a Symphony in C minor, have been premiered in The Netherlands and Spain. He has published in Music & Letters, Music Theory and Analysis, or Diagonal: an Ibero-American Music Review. Alberto also teaches Academic Music and Musicianship at The Purcell School.
