The Japanese pianist Yoko Ono has enjoyed her international career both as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in Europe, USA, China and Japan. She has played in major concert halls including the Wigmore Hall, South Bank Centre and Barbican in UK, Tokyo Bunkakaikan and Suntory Hall in Japan and the National Concert Hall in Ireland. She has appeared frequently in the Brighton Fringe Festival where she was nominated for the Best Classical Act in 2007. Other festival performances include Dartington International Festival, Adur festival, Arundel Festival, Eastbourne Festival, Musica Sienna and the European International Festival in Geneva. Concerto appearances have included Rachmaninov Piano Concerto no.2 with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. She has recorded for CDs of chamber music released by Claudio Records and DKlassics. She is privileged to have music dedicated to her by British composers Peter Copley, Paul Carr, John Hawkins, Barry Mills and a Danish composer Michael Bonsdorf.

Yoko received her musical training in Japan and at the Royal Academy of Music where she worked with Christopher Elton and won several scholarships and prizes including the Leverhulme Postgraduate Studentship. After leaving the Academy, she studied with Maria Curcio and Benjamin Kaplan.

Now based in Brighton, Yoko is a dedicated piano teacher at Royal College of Music Junior Department and Roedean School. She continues to enjoy performing and is a committee member of the Lunchtime Concerts at the Chapel Royal in Brighton.
