Dr Vivian Choi
DMA MMus(Lond) LRSM
Vivian Choi was born in Macao and grew up in Hong Kong.
At fifteen, she came as an Associated Board Scholar to the RCM where she studied piano with Kendall Taylor. She obtained a BMus degree and won the Hopkinson Gold Medal and Dannreuther Concerto Prize. She later studied with Sulamita Aronovsky and Martin Canin, and completed an MMus in Theory and Analysis at King's College, London, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
As a pianist Vivian has won, amongst others, First Prize at the 1990 Washington International Competition, and has given recitals and broadcasts in the Far East, USA and Europe to favourable reviews. A keen performer of contemporary music, Vivian has taken part in CD recordings of solo and chamber works, and has performed in Festivals such as the ISCM World Music Days.
