Penny Filer

Penny Filer was a pupil at the Purcell School and attended the Junior Department at the Royal College of Music. She gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where she studied the viola with Max Gilbert and Alec taylor.

Penny enjoys a busy freelance career combined with teaching. She is regularly involved with coaching on music courses both here and abroad. Penny enjoys sharing her knowledge of twentieth century viola compositions and encourages her pupils to seek out lesser known works.
