Auditions for RCMJD will be a one or two-stage process. For our most popular instruments (violin and piano), candidates will need to submit video recordings of their performances for the initial round. Single round auditions (and final round auditions for violin/piano) will be held in person. We aim to let you know the date of your audition approximately a week after the closing date for applications.
Please ensure that you have read the special audition requirements document below.
Results will be sent directly to parents/guardians by email as soon as possible after the audition period – please see our ‘RCMJD auditions information for applicants’ document for more details about specific dates.
If you are offered a place you will have a little time to decide whether you wish to accept it. The date by which you will be expected to sign your agreement to our Regulations and Policies will be stated on your offer letter.
If you decide to accept you will also need to decide (within the acceptance deadline) which instruments you wish to have individual tuition on, and whether you require standard length or extended lessons (for which there is an extra cost). You must also familiarise yourself with what the RCMJD offers and what is expected of students and parents before accepting your place, and will be asked to sign your agreement to our Regulations and Code of Conduct.
