James Madrilejo Digital Village
Digital Village is a new work for eight livestreams and two videos that combines music, poetry, Filipino mythology, and subtle horror to explore themes of being watched, privacy concerns in social media, and the performative nature of existing in public spaces, both physical and digital.
Seven musicians from the Royal College of Music will perform in sites around the campus, alongside three actors livestreaming from the United States to tell a dreamy, disconnected narrative of gods and goddesses, eyes and cameras, celestial bodies and dogs.
Inspired by Jose Maceda’s work for twenty radio towers, Ugnayan, Digital Village asks people to come together and hear stories and music around the metaphorical campfire. Please disregard any eyeshine from the shadows.
