Learn more about the process behind the performance with RCM Visiting Professor Paul Ellison in this invigorating masterclass.

Paul has performed numerous solo and ensemble concerts as well as given masterclasses on the double bass and period instruments on four continents, and his former students hold titled positions in major ensembles and institutions of higher learning on five continents.

His career has included 23 years as principal bass of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, several years as principal double bass of the Santa Fe Opera, and seven years as chair of strings at the University of Southern California. He also serves as the Lynette S. Autrey Professor of Double Bass and co-chair of the string department at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
