In a programme of dramatic contrasts, RCM Head of Conducting Toby Purser and postgraduate conductors direct College musicians in a fascinating range of chamber works.
Welsh composer Grace Williams studied at the Royal College of Music with Vaughan Williams and Gordon Jacob, developing a distinctive voice audible in her characterful Suite for nine instruments.
Described by The Wall Street Journal as ‘a musical equivalent of magical realism’, Anna Thorvaldsdottir’s Aequilibira is a hauntingly beautiful piece that epitomises her style, and composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson has been taking the world by storm with her unique voice.
