Having recently made a Proms appearance across the road with a ‘thoroughly engaging’ (The Arts Desk) performance of RCM alumnus Coleridge-Taylor’s Violin Concerto, Elena Urioste resumes her association with the RCM this season in an engaging masterclass.
As a violinist, Elena champions works by underrepresented composers including Ethel Smyth (BBC Proms 2022), Florence Price, Mel Bonis and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. She has given acclaimed performances as a soloist with major orchestras throughout the United States, including the New York Philharmonic and Boston Pops, and has also appeared with the London Philharmonic, Hallé and Philharmonia.
Elena has collaborated with celebrated conductors Sir Mark Elder, Vasily Petrenko and Karina Canellakis and performed in prestigious venues across the globe. She is a former BBC New Generation Artist and has featured on the covers of Strings, Symphony, and BBC Music magazines.
