Rupert Whitehead

Headshot for Rupert Whitehead

Rupert grew up in the town of Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, and it was through the Carmarthenshire Music Service that he had many of his early musical opportunities. This is something that he feels truly grateful for and very fortunate to have experienced.

Rupert moved to London in 2006 to study at the Royal College of Music and then the Royal Academy of Music for post graduate studies. After freelancing for 6 years, Rupert became an Associate Member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2017, becoming a full member of the orchestra in 2022. As well as playing in the orchestra, Rupert enjoys working with the RPO Resound, the orchestra’s groundbreaking Community and Education department.
