Paying your tuition fees in instalments spreads the cost across the year, which can be a good way to manage your finances. Instalments are usually split into either two or three equal parts, which are paid termly.
If part of the cost of your fees is covered by a loan, scholarship or sponsor, you will only be required to pay the outstanding amount, which can be spread across instalments.
Payment by instalment can only be set up through the RCM online payment system. This process must be completed before induction week. After successfully setting up your plan online, you will receive an email confirming the instalment payment dates and amounts. The first payment will be taken automatically on the first day of the respective term(s).
You will need a debit or credit card to make payment online. You cannot pay by instalment using PayPal.
You can pay in three equal instalments payable at the start of each term.
All card payments will be taken automatically.
Pay online
If you require more instalments, please set up your instalment plan online as described above. After you have done this you should contact the Finance department about splitting your plan into a different number of instalments. However, you will still be required to pay the first instalment as set out online.
Future instalments can be amended with the approval of the Head of Finance. The amendment of future instalments will only be considered in special circumstances and there is no guarantee that this will be granted.
Payment plans from previous years
Payment plans are only active for one year so previous instalment plans are not valid. If you would like to pay your fees this year in instalments, you must go through the process again.
Paying in a foreign currency
It is possible to make a payment in a foreign currency, however we cannot specify the amount due in that currency since the value of currencies varies daily and the exchange rates offered vary between banks. We cannot guarantee that the rate offered by the RCM's bank will be equivalent to the rate offered by somebody else.
We suggest that you check the exchange rate with your bank before arranging payment. If there is a shortfall you will be required to pay the remainder. You will also be required to pay any currency conversion charges. If you pay more than required, the overpayment can be carried over to the next academic year or refunded to you.
Account reference
Your account reference is your student ID, which is emailed to new students by the Registry prior to induction week. Please quote this reference on all payments made to the RCM in addition to your name.
Receipts
If you need a receipt for tax purposes urgently, please contact the Student Finance team stating an address to which you would like the receipt sent.
If you require a receipt for your personal records, then we would greatly appreciate if you could wait until after induction week as this is a very busy time for the Finance department.
I have been charged the wrong amount
If you feel you have been charged the wrong amount, please contact the Student Finance team if the charge relates to your tuition fees or scholarship (if you have been awarded one).
