Rodrigo Moro Martín will join the String Faculty at the Royal College of Music in September 2023.
Alumnus of the Royal College of Music Rodrigo Moro Martín will be joining the String Faculty in September 2023 as a professor of double bass, adding to the list of international principal bassists who teach at the College. He has worked with many of the world’s leading orchestras and was recently appointed as Principal Double Bass of the London Symphony Orchestra alongside his role in the same position at the Orquesta Nacional de España and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Further consolidating the RCM’s links to the music profession, other recent appointments include viola professors Isabel Villanueva and Bryony Gibson-Cornish, and violin professor Emily Sun. Isabel Villanueva has been involved in collaborating and premiering more than 20 new works for viola and was awarded the Culture Award of the Community of Madrid in 2019. Bryony Gibson-Cornish is the violist of the Marmen Quartet, winners of the Banff and Bordeaux International String Quartet Competitions. She has been coaching chamber music at the Royal College of Music since 2017 and joined the professorial roster in September 2022. Emily Sun recently joined the String Faculty as violin professor and has been praised for her ‘searing and poetic tone’ by The Guardian.
