The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's greatest conservatoires. Our excellence was recognised by the 2023 QS World University Rankings, in which we were ranked as the global top institution for performing arts by Subject.
This post is primarily based in the Britten Theatre; one of London’s best-loved opera stages – with an orchestra pit and elegant tiered auditorium, it not only hosts our regular opera productions but also a variety of instrumental and ensemble performances. With excellent technical facilities, the theatre is in regular use as the focus of the thriving RCM Opera Studio and hosts 3 full staged operas annually. It also hosts a variety of instrumental performances, including a chamber music series and concerts by the RCM Big Band.
We are regularly joined by acclaimed directors, designers and choreographers, providing a professional experience within a supportive environment. We have recently staged Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, directed by Stephen Barlow; Jonathan Dove’s Flight, directed by Jeremy Sams; and Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach, directed by Louise Bakker. We also present other special projects including biennial fully staged productions of mini-operas written by RCM student composers.
The Royal College of Music is seeking to engage a skilled and experienced Production and Venue Lighting Manager to join its small and dynamic team. We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
- A qualification in Technical Theatre would be desirable and professional experience in production, touring or venue-based roles is essential.
