Susan Milan

Susan Milan was a Junior Exhibitioner and Scholar at the RCM, where she studied with John Francis. As a post graduate of the Guildhall School of Music she studied with Geoffrey Gilbert, as well as attending the Marcel Moyse masterclasses in Switzerland. After graduating she became Principal Flute of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed as Principal Flute and soloist in UK with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, English Chamber Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, English String Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Welsh Orchestra, Philomusica of London, New London Orchestra, Haydn Festival Orchestra, and others. She continues to travel internationally giving recitals and masterclasses. In 2019 Susan received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Flute Association of America. Susan founded the British Isles Music Festival, an international chamber music and masterclass course for outstanding musicians, held each summer at Charterhouse School.
