Veronica Veysey Campbell

Veronica Veysey Campbell has a wealth of experience as a singing teacher. Before joining the RCM Vocal Faculty she taught and coached at the University of Cambridge, and spent 15 years at both St. Paul’s Cathedral, where she taught the Choristers, and the RCM Junior Department. She is a regular teacher for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

In addition to this her busy, vibrant private studio includes young and established professional singers, many of whom are winning prizes and awards.

Since 2008 Veronica has co-directed the Musicfest Vocal Course, held each summer at Aberystwyth University. The nurturing and supportive ethos of the course has helped numerous singers to enhance their singing and performance skills. She is passionately interested in the healthy development of voices and her main priority is to mentor her students to build a secure and sustainable vocal technique in order to give them the freedom to focus on developing their musicianship and artistry.

Veronica has given numerous masterclasses, talks and lectures and has presented at a number of voice conferences in the UK and abroad. With her colleague, Liza Hobbs, she has co-written two song books, Changing Voices and Everlasting Voices, both of which are published by Peters Edition.

At the RCM, in addition to her one-to-one teaching, she teaches the Principles of Teaching Singing course and mentors Masters’ students taking a teaching module.

She strongly believes in ongoing professional development and is a member of the British Voice Association, of which she has served as a Director, as well as The Association of Teachers of Singing and The Incorporated Society of Musicians. She is also a member of The Royal Society of Musicians.

Veronica studied at Trinity College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama winning prizes at both institutions. She was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Memorial Scholarship Competition and was awarded the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Medal. She continued her studies at “l’Académie Maurice Ravel” and at the Britten Pears School. As a soloist Veronica gave many recitals, oratorio and concert performances in leading venues and on television and radio.
