What Does Music Look Like? A Creative Experiment

Monday 7 March 2016

The Royal College of Music has a proud history of nurturing innovation and, as part of its rebrand, collaborated with creative agency Landor who asked themselves the question ‘what does music look like?’ In advance of a special event this evening, Landor commented:

‘The power of Beethoven. The intensity of Bartók. Incredible experiences for our ears but what about our eyes? How would these sonic wonders be expressed in visual form?

‘Harnessing the latest coding technology and the talents of the Alke Quartet, tonight we’ll be unveiling our unique way of answering that question: an algorithm that visually expresses the emotion and beauty of music. Live. In real time.

'Students and guests are welcome to come along and share in this unique experiment.’

The 20-minute programme takes place tonight, Monday 7 March, at 6pm in the Recital Hall.
