RCM Artistic Director Stephen Johns Produces Grammy Winning Album

Joyce & Tony - Live From Wigmore Hall, produced by Stephen Johns, was named Best Classical Solo Vocal Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards on 15 February.

Before joining the RCM, Stephen spent over 20 years in the recording industry, working with artists including Sir Simon Rattle, Bernard Haitink, Evgeny Kissin, Msitslav Rostropovich, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Wiener Philharmoniker. The disc marks his fourth Grammy-winning album.

The winning album captures DiDonato and Pappano’s 2014-15 Wigmore Hall season-opening recital, which included Italian coloratura repertoire and numbers from the Great American Songbook. The recording was lauded for capturing the performers’ playful repartee and the atmosphere of the Wigmore Hall.
