Tea at the House of Lords

Friday 13 July 2012

In June, the RCM Chamber Choir received international acclaim in June for their rain-soaked, heroic performance at the climax of the Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant, part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

To thank them for their performance, the RCM Chairman – Professor Lord Winston – invited them to the House of Lords. The choir were treated to high tea, met several grateful peers and attended a debating session in the chamber. They also posed for photographs on the terrace; of course, it was raining again…

The RCM Chamber Choir will next be performing at the RCM on 30 October. They will perform a number of English part-songs including selections from A Garland for the Queen, a collection of songs written for the Queen’s coronation. For more information visit the RCM events website.
