Jacques Tys
After finishing his studies at the Conservatoire National de Région de Reims, Jacques Tys entred into the class of Prof. Pierre Pierlot at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where in 1984, he received Premier Prix in oboe. Alongside, he consulted with Maurice Bourgue and Thomas Indermühle.
In 1988, Jacques Tys won the International Competition in Tokyo. He is laureate of the International Competitions in Toulon (France) and Duinot (Italy). Since 1990, he has been Principal-soloist of the Orchetre de l´Opéra de Paris. He has partipated in recordings for Deutsche Grammophon under the direction of Myung Whun Chung.
Jacques Tys is professor of the Hochschule de Karlsruhe, regularly invited to tutor master classes at the Thalahassee University (USA), the Geidai University (Tokyo) and the Domaine Forget Music Academy (Canada). In 1995, he was one of founders of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes and since 1998, he has been professor of oboe at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
As soloist and chamber musician, he has appeared at a number of international festivals and concert halls: France: Festival de Radio France, Festival de quatuors à cordes de Lubéron, Salle Pleyel; Japan (with the Trio Forlane): Casals Hall and Bunka Kaïkan in Tokyo; Scandinavia: Bodoe Ost Festival; Italy : Milano, Ferrare, Venice; Canada: Festival du Domaine Forget; USA: Festivals IDRS Thalaassee, Chicago, Phoenix.
Jacques was appointed Prince Consort Professor at the Royal College of Music in September 2012.
