Gabriele Ragghianti
Gabriele Ragghianti was born in Lucca, Tuscany. He studied at Luigi Boccherini Musical Institute, graduating with Maestro S Grazzini with highest honours, cum laude and with a special mention by the Ministry of Education. Winner of many national or international contests, he has worked, as principal double bass, with several symphonic and chamber orchestras, both Italian and foreign, affronting repertoires from all eras.
Since 1988 Gabriele has been soloist double bass of the distinguished chamber ensemble I Solisti Veneti. He performed as soloist in more than 1,500 concerts in 85 countries worldwide, playing in many important concert halls and at the most prestigious festivals, such as Tanglewood, Ravinia and Mostly Mozart in the US, Salzburg in Austria, Guanajuato and Sinaloa in Mexico, Suntory and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo.
Gabriele has carried out an outstanding work in chamber music, collaborating with musicians of great fame. He took part in many recordings for the radio and the television, both in Italy and abroad - he recorded more than 150 CDs and DVDs, working with famous artists worldwide.
With the Quartetto Rossini he recorded the whole repertoire of Rossini’s sonatas and with the pianist Tiziano Mealli a collection of Giovanni Bottesini’s works for doublebass and piano.
Gabriele holds the tenure as professor at the Music Institute Luigi Boccherini of Lucca, and he’s regularly invited as guest teacher to some of the most prestigious musical institutions in Italy and abroad, such as Musica Riva Festival, New York University, Hochschule of Nürnberg, the Conservatoire de Paris, the Universitetet i Oslo, and the Rijksuniversiteit of Groningen.
