RCM Studios facilities
Control Room 1
Located adjacent to the Belle Shenkman Studio, our live room named after the donor of the piano, Control Room 1 is the heart of the RCM Studios; operating at an extremely high standard we are able to produce an extensive range of musical styles in an atmosphere that brings out the best from musicians and producers. CR1 is based around a ProTools HD 2 system with a Yamaha DM2000 V2 console, a number of high quality microphone preamps and a collection of exceptionally good microphones make CR1 an ideal place to record and undertake post production.
Control Room 2
Control Room 2 is equipped for high-quality digital recordings which can be made from the College's various performance spaces, including the Recital Hall and the Concert Hall. An arrangement of fixed positioned high quality microphones, 96kHz/24bit Digital Audio Transfer lines, remote controlled pre-amplifiers and visual links terminate in CR2. This makes remote live audio recording straightforward and less time consuming. The room is also equipped with ProTools HD 1 for multitrack recordings, CD-R and DAT recorders for straight to stereo recordings.
A wide range of recording session types can be accommodated in CR2. However it is mainly used for live concert recordings, exam recital recording, editing and mastering.
The RCM Studios is proud of its large collection of high-quality industry-standard microphones. All microphones are available for use for recording sessions within the Studio.
Our microphones range from large diaphragm condensers to dynamic and lavaliers, each designed for a different application.
