Rameau Les fêtes d’Hébé

One of Rameau's most popular operas, Les fêtes d’Hébé was an immediate success with Parisian audiences following its premiere in 1739. Almost 300 years later, the Royal College of Music presents the United Kingdom's first staged production of his inventive and colourful score, as part of a unique collaboration with the Académie de l’Opéra de Paris and Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.

The prologue opens with Hebe, goddess of youth, escaping to the banks of the River Seine following unwanted attentions of Momus to witness a series of festivities. What follows is a series of self-contained acts exploring the themes of poetry, music and dance.

Rarely performed, don’t miss this opportunity to hear Rameau's evocative score brought to life in this new production by Director Thomas Lebrun, conducted by French baroque expert Jonathan Williams.

Co-production of the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris with the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles in partnership with the Royal College of Music.
