Half a million YouTube views

Friday 24 October 2014

The Royal College of Music has received more than 500,000 video views on YouTube.

Since being launched in 2008, the RCM YouTube channel has gone from strength to strength, offering audiences around the world the chance to enjoy selected RCM performances and masterclasses. These are expertly recorded by the RCM’s in-house studio team using state-of-the-art technology, and often broadcast live on the RCM website.

Masterclasses available to watch on the channel include those with violinists Nicola Benedetti and Ida Haendel, pianist Lang Lang and RCM vocal alumni Gerald Finley, Sir Thomas Allen and, most recently, Sarah Connolly (pictured). Footage of András Schiff’s piano masterclass at the RCM has so far attracted over 157,000 views.

Our YouTube channel also offers the opportunity to discover what life is like at the RCM through a range of student-focused videos produced with TallWall Media. These short films explore many different student experiences at the RCM, including orchestral performance, outreach work, solo performance, research and composition.

The RCM is present on many other social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Pinterest.

The next RCM Live broadcast takes place tonight Friday 24 October at 7.30pm, and offers the chance to see the RCM Symphony Orchestra and Chorus perform William Lloyd Webber’s Aurora and Mahler’s Symphony no 2 with soloists Sarah Connolly and Elizabeth Watts. Tune in to www.rcm.ac.uk/live to watch.
