Are you an aspiring singer?

Wednesday 24 July 2013

This September the RCM Vocal Faculty is once again opening its doors to offer aspiring singers invaluable advice from RCM vocal professors.

Our popular Vocal Faculty Open Door initiative offers the chance for singers thinking of applying to the Royal College of Music at some point in the future to test the waters in a supportive environment, and to find answers to key questions such as:

- Am I ready to apply now?
- If not, how can I improve?
- What course should I apply for?
- How can I maximise my chance of success?

During an Open Door slot singers are able to showcase their vocal skills and then chat with two senior RCM Vocal Faculty professors, who provide immediate, friendly feedback regarding suitability for audition, suggestions on areas for improvement, and help with the decision-making process regarding repertoire.

The Vocal Faculty Open Door initiative fits in with the supportive ethos of the RCM’s renowned Vocal Faculty, as Head of Vocal Studies Nicholas Sears explains:

The RCM Vocal Faculty's reputation for producing outstanding international artists is unsurpassed. We foster a supportive environment which encourages individual excellence and self-expression. Our goal is to equip emerging artists with the vocal and interpretative skills required for a successful singing career. As a faculty we are proud of our current and former successes, using this as a spur to provide our singers with relevant and innovative training in a flexible and ever-changing artistic landscape.”

Vocal Faculty Open Door slots are currently available on Friday 13 September and cost £25. For further details and to book your slot visit our featured events page.
