Patrick Bashford HonRCM, former professor of classical guitar at the Royal College of Music, died at the age of 82 in December 2011.

Inspired to learn the guitar while travelling around Spain in his 20s, Patrick went on to study at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In the 1950s and 1960s, Patrick supplemented his musical career with modelling, before being appointed professor of classical guitar by Sir David Willcocks in 1971.
