London International Guitar Competition

Thursday 17 October 2013

RCM guitarist Laura Snowden has reached the semi-finals of the London International Guitar Competition.

Founded just last year by the International Guitar Foundation (IGF), the London International Guitar Competition has quickly established itself as one of the world's most important competitions for guitarists under the age of 30. Laura is one of only six semi-finalists who were selected from all over the world to compete.

All of the semi-final performers will play Fantasy with Anniversary Chorale - a new piece specially commissioned for the competition from RCM alumnus Gabriel Jackson which celebrates anniversaries relating to English Renaissance composer John Dowland and RCM alumni Benjamin Britten and Julian Bream.

Laura Snowden is also one of the 2013 participants of the IGF’s Young Artist Platform, both as a solo player and as part of her duo with fellow RCM guitarist Tom Ellis.

The Semi-Final of the competition will be held on Friday 25 October at 2.30pm in the RCM’s Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. Tickets cost £5 and are available from the RCM’s Box Office on 020 7591 4314 or www.rcm.ac.uk/boxoffice.
