Lara live on BBC Radio 3

RCM pianist Lara Melda has starred as soloist in a BBC Radio 3 concert with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Conducted by Christoph Konig, Lara performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto no 3 with the orchestra in Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall on Friday 7 June. This performance, preceded by an interview with Lara, was broadcast as BBC Radio 3’s Sunday Concert on Sunday 7 July.

Lara, who currently studies at the RCM with Ian Jones, was awarded the title of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2010 whilst a student in the RCM’s Junior Department. Her triumph in the competition led to an on-going collaboration with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and to her signing by Askonas Holt.

Lara’s performance schedule remains as packed as ever, and she will next be appearing alongside other RCM musicians in a charity concert in aid of Street Child World Cup at St. James’s Piccadilly, London, on Wednesday 10 July.
