RCM pianist Emmanuelle Fleurot, RCM doctoral student Anne Marie Christensen and RCM Quartet in Association the Sacconi Quartet all appear in Howard Goodall’s new programme ‘The Story of Music’.

In this six-part series for BBC Two, composer Howard Goodall traces the story of music from the ancient world to the modern day, and suggests that music has always been a crucial part of human existence.

The second episode of the series, entitled 'The Age of Invention', features the Sacconi Quartet and Anne Marie Christensen, who  performs 'The Wedding Night' by John Playford on baroque violin, an instrument loaned to her by Catherine Martin.

In the third episode, ‘The Age of Elegance & Sensibility’, the Sacconi Quartet perform an extract from Beethoven’s Quartet no 14, and Emmanuelle Fleurot, a 3rd year BMus student at the RCM, performs piano works by Chopin. Emmanuelle also appears in the series' fourth episode, entitled 'The Age of Tragedy'.
