RCM pianist Dinara Klinton has won Second Prize in this year's International Paderewski Piano Competition 2013.

The Ukrainian-born pianist was awarded Second Prize of €15,000 and the title of Laureate of the competition ahead of 24 other competitors after her outstanding performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no 1 in the competition’s Final, which took place in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on 15 November.

In addition, Dinara was also awarded prizes totalling €3,000 for her playing earlier in the competition: the best semi-final recital, the best performance of Chopin's pieces and the best performance of Paderewski's pieces. The awards give Dinara many international engagements, including recitals in USA, Japan and Poland for next season.

Dinara is currently studying with Dina Parakhina at the RCM, and is supported by ABRSM scholarship and the Guzik Foundation. Her prize-winning performance in the competition is available to watch on YouTube.

The International Paderewski Piano Competition, now in its ninth year, commemorates pianist Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and this year was open to pianists of all nationalities born between 1981 and 1997.
