Ben Goldscheider through to BBC Young Musician Final

Monday 9 May 2016

Royal College of Music Junior Department horn player Ben Goldscheider is through to the Final of BBC Young Musician 2016.

His impressive programme of Esa-Pekka Salonen, Saint-Saëns and York Bowen in the Semi Final, broadcast on Saturday 7 May, secured his place as one of three finalists in the prestigious competition.

Ben is one of no fewer than five talented RCMJD young musicians who made it through to this year’s category finals: pianist Tomoka Kan, percussionist Joseph Parks, flautist Marie Sato and RCMJD alumna violinist Stephanie Childress. All of their outstanding performances are available to watch on the BBC Four website.

Ben will be competing in the grand final on Sunday 15 May, aiming to follow in the footsteps of RCM musicians pianist Lara Melda (2010 winner), cellist Laura van der Heijden (2012 winner) and pianist Martin James Bartlett (2014 winner).
