RCM violinist Ben Baker has been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Emily Anderson Prize. Ben was selected for the award following recent YCAT Trust auditions, and will receive £2,500 towards professional development.

This longstanding prize for young violinists was established under the will of Emily Anderson, editor and translator of the letters of Mozart and Beethoven. Previous winners include RCM alumna Alina Ibragimova.

The Royal Philharmonic Society makes an annual commitment to around 30 young musicians, helping to develop the next generation of outstanding musical talent with practical and creative support tailored to individual needs.

Ben, who is an ABRSM Scholar at the RCM studying with Natasha Boyarsky, has also recently won both the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the prestigious Windsor Festival International String Competition.
