A Big Bash!

The inaugural RCM Festival of Percussion, which took place on Sunday 10 July 2011, has been acclaimed as a great success. Presented in association with the Percussive Arts Society (UK) and with grateful thanks to Bell Percussion, the day was a grand celebration of all things percussion.

Nearly 400 visitors opured into the RCM to hear a line-up of special guests that included drum legend Peter Erskine, the complete timpani and percussion sections of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and international marimba soloist Daniella Ganeva as well as representatives of the UK’s leading instrument manufacturers, and some of the country’s leading young percussion groups. The day came to a grand climax with Peter Erskine’s special guest appearance with Mark Armstrong and the RCM Big Band.

The event was such as success that it will now become an annual event, and the line-up for the 2012 RCM Festival of Percussion will be announced soon.
