Major Gifts Officer
Closing date: 12pm Wednesday 25 April 2018
Interview date: w/c 7 May 2018
Salary: £28,102 - £31,102 per annum
Job ref no: 401-18
This role is permanent and offered on a full time (1FTE) basis.
Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. The RCM was named top institution for performing arts in the UK and Europe and second in the world in the 2017 QS World University Rankings. The Development & Alumni Engagement department (DAE) raises significant funds each year from individuals, companies, charitable trusts and foundations, to support the RCM in its educational and artistic mission. In 2015, the RCM announced plans to transform its building in the heart of South Kensington and this is a key priority of an ambitious capital campaign, More Music: Reimagining the Royal College of Music.
The DAE department is seeking to engage a Major Gifts Officer who is looking to further develop their career in Major Gift fundraising, to maximise RCM’s income from high net worth individuals, charitable trusts and statutory grant programmes as well as corporate sponsors (5+ figure gifts). Reporting to the Head of Major Gifts, the postholder will develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies and ensure that all donor interests are met. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving a personal income target and will work to agreed activity targets.
The successful applicant will possess demonstrable fundraising or high-level relationship building experience, with experience of achieving four figure+ gifts or negotiating an outcome which involves a monetary sum and will have the ability to take their fundraising skills to the next level. Experience of working within a fundraising campaign would be advantageous. An appreciation of the arts and music, with a desire to immerse yourself in the work and culture of the Royal College of Music is essential.
